Ice Cream Bear Pattern

Hi, I’m Berry!

To prepare you for the spring and summer months I have this cute free pattern of Berry The Ice Cream Bear! I created this pattern about a year ago and it was my very first pattern and I was super proud of it and I’ve decided to share it with you guys. This pattern is easy and perfect for crocheters of all skill levels. Let’s get started!

Ice Cream Bear Pattern:

Materials:

  • Worsted weight yarn in brown, buff, pink, and a little bit of white and black (I used Red Heart Super Saver)
  • 3.5 mm crochet hook
  • Safety eyes
  • Stuffing
  • Darning needle

Abbreviations:

  • mc – magic circle
  • sc – single crochet
  • sc inc – single crochet increase
  • invdec – invisible decrease
  • sl st – slip stitch
  • st – stitch
  • Rnd – round
  • () – total number of stitches

Head:

Rnd 1: 6 sc in mc (6)

Rnd 2: sc inc x6 (12)

Rnd 3: 1 sc, sc inc (18)

Rnd 4: 2 sc, sc inc (24)

Rnd 5: 3 sc, sc inc (30)

Rnd 6: 4 sc, sc inc (36)

Rnd 7-13: sc in each st around (36)

-Place Safety Eyes Between Rnds 11 and 12 About 8 Stitches Apart-

Rnd 14: 4 sc, sc dec (30)

Rnd 15: 3 sc, sc dec (24)

-Start Stuffing-

Rnd 16: 2 sc, sc dec (18)

Rnd 17: 1 sc, sc dec (12)

Rnd 18: sc dec x6 (6)

Finish stuffing and fasten off, close hole and weave in ends.

Muzzle:

Rnd 1: 6 sc in mc, sl st in first st, ch 1, Do Not turn (6)

Rnd 2: sc inc x6, sl st in first st (12)

Fasten off leaving a long tail for sewing. Use some scrap black yarn or thread to embroider the nose and mouth.

Body:

Rnd 1: 6 sc in mc (6)

Rnd 2: sc inc x6 (12)

Rnd 3: 1 sc, sc inc (18)

Rnd 4: 2 sc, sc inc (24)

Rnd 5: 3 sc, sc inc (30)

Rnd 6-10: sc in each st around (30)

Rnd 11: 3 sc, sc dec (24)

-Start Stuffing-

Rnd 12: sc in each st around (24)

Rnd 13: 2 sc, sc dec (18)

Rnd 14: sc in each st around (18)

Rnd 15: 1 sc, sc dec (12)

Fasten off and finish stuffing, leave a long tail for sewing.

Arms x2:

Rnd 1: 5 sc in mc (5)

Rnd 2: sc inc x6 (10)

Rnd 3-9: sc in each stitch around (10)

-Start Lightly Stuffing The Arms-

Rnd 10: sc across the top to close piece (5)

Fasten off and leave a long tail for sewing.

Legs x2:

Rnd 1: 6 sc in mc (6)

Rnd 2: sc inc x6 (12)

Rnd 3-5: sc in each st around (12)

Fasten off leaving a long tail for sewing, stuff lightly.

Ear x1:

Rnd 1: 6 sc in mc (6)

Rnd 2: sc inc x6 (12)

Rnd 3: 1 sc, sc inc (18)

Rnd 4-6: sc in each st around (18)

Fasten off leaving a long tail for sewing, do not stuff the ear instead flatten it to create the ear shape.

Ice Cream Scoop x1:

Rnd 1: 6 sc in mc (6)

Rnd 2: sc inc x6 (12)

Rnd 3: 1 sc, sc inc (18)

Rnd 4: 2 sc, sc inc. (24)

Rnd 5-8: sc in each st around (24)

Rnd 9: 2 sc, sc dec (18)

Rnd 10: *5 sc in 1st st, sl st in next st* Repeat between ** until you have 9 “bumps”

Fasten off leaving a long tail for sewing and stuff.

Cone x1:

Rnd 1: 3 sc in mc (3)

Rnd 2: 1 sc inc, sc in remaining stitches (4)

Rnd 3: 1 sc inc, sc in remaining stitches (5)

Rnd 4: 1 sc inc, sc in remaining stitches (6)

Rnd 5: 1 sc inc, sc in remaining stitches (7)

Rnd 6: 1 sc inc, sc in reminding stitches (8)

Rnd 7: 1 sc inc, sc in remaining stitches (9)

Rnd 8: 1 sc inc, sc in remaining stitches (10)

Rnd 9: 1 sc inc, sc in remaining stitches (11)

Fasten off and leave a long tail for sewing, stuff lightly.

Tail:

Rnd 1: 6 sc in mc (6)

Rnd 2-3: sc around in each st (6)

Fasten off leaving a long tail for sewing, stuff lightly.

Assembly:

Step 1: Sew the body to the head.

Step 2: Sew the arms to the body.

Step 3: Sew the legs and tail to the body. Sew them in a tripod like form to help make the bear stand on its own.

Step 4: Sew the ear to either side of the head (it’s your choice)

Step 5: Sew the ice cream scoop to the other side of the head where you’d place a second ear, finish stuffing as you sew.

Step 6: Sew the cone to the top of the ice cream, you can angle it however you like but take into account the balance of the bear. Finish stuffing as you sew.

Step 7: Sew the muzzle between the eyes


There you have it, your very own Ice Cream Bear! This cute cuddly bear is perfect for the spring and summer months. He makes a great gift for any occasion or to have as decor around the house.
