Voodoo Doll Pattern

Hi, I’m Stitch!

Materials:

  • Three skeins of fine yarn (size 2) In your choice of color, I used pink and blue for the main colors and white as an accent for the arms and feet
  • 3.5mm crochet hook
  • Stuffing
  • Two buttons of your choice for eyes
  • Darning needle
  • Sewing pins for embellishments
  • Embroidery floss
  • Scissors

Abbreviations:

mc – magic circle

sc – single crochet

sl st – slip stitch

blo – back loop

sc inc – single crochet increase

sc dec – single crochet decrease

st – stitch

Rnd – round

() – total number of stitches for round

Head: Using Two Strands Of Yarn

Rnd 1: 6 sc in mc (6)

Rnd 2: sc inc x6(12)

Rnd 3: 1sc, sc inc (18)

Rnd 3: 2 sc, sc inc (24)

Rnd 4: 3 sc, sc inc (30)

Rnd 5: 4 sc, sc inc (36)

Rnd 6-12: sc in each st around (36) 

Rnd 13: 4 sc, sc dec (30) 

-This is where you should start stuffing-

Rnd 14: 3 sc, sc dec (24)

Rnd 15: 2 sc, sc dec (18)

Rnd 16: 1 sc, sc dec (12)

Fasten off and Finish stuffing, weave in loose ends.

Body: Using Two Strands Of Yarn

Rnd 1: 6sc in mc (6)

Rnd 2: sc inc x6 (12)

Rnd 3: 1 sc, sc inc in next st (18)

Rnd 4: 2 sc, sc inc (24)

Rnd 5: 3 sc, sc inc (30)

Rnd 6-7: sc in each st around (30) 

Rnd 8: 3 sc, sc dec (24) 

-This is where you should start stuffing-

Rnd 9-10: sc in each st around (24)

Rnd 11: 2 sc, sc dec (18)

Rnd 12-13: sc in each st around (18)

Rnd 14: 1 sc, sc dec (12)

Rnd 15-16: sc in each st around (12)

Fasten off and leave a long tail for sewing, finish stuffing.

Legs x2: Starts Out Using One Strand Of accent Color

Rnd 1: 6 sc in mc (6)

Rnd 2: sc inc x6 (12)

Rnd 3: 1 sc, sc inc in next st (18)

-Join the two strands of main colors-

Rnd 4: In blo, sc in each st around (18)

Rnd 5: 1 sc, sc dec (12) 

-This is where you should start lightly stuffing-

Rnd 6-7: sc in each st around (12)

Rnd 8: sc dec x6 (6)

Rnd 9-10: sc in each st around (6)

Rnd 11: sc across the top to close piece (3)

Fasten off and leave a long tail for sewing.

Arms x2: Starts Outs Using One Strand Of Accent Color

Rnd 1: 6 sc in mc (6)

Rnd 2: sc inc x6 (12)

-Join the two strands of the main color-

Rnd 3: In blo, sc in each st around (12)

Rnd 4: sc in each st around (12)

-This is where you should start stuffing lightly-

Rnd 5: sc dec x6 (6)

Rnd 6-7: sc in each st around (6)

Rnd 8: sc across the top to close piece (3)

Fasten off leaving long tail for sewing.

Assembly:

  1. Sew the head to the body
  2. Sew the legs to the bottom of the body
  3. Sew the arms to the body, I placed them between rows 13 and 14
  4. Sew the button eyes to the head,I placed them between rows 11 and 12 with about 9 stitches between them
  5. Embroider some stitches wherever you want and as many as you want
  6. Place some pins anywhere you desire, I used five pins spread out but you can use as many or as little as you please

There you have it, your very own voodoo doll! This doll makes for great Halloween decor or all year round if you like to keep things a little spooky. This is also a great gift for someone who loves creepy or interesting things. I encourage you to experiment with different colors, yarns, and hook sizes to make this project your own.
