Bonnie The Bunny Pattern

Hi, I’m Bonnie!

Materials:

  • Worsted weight yarn (Red Heart Super Saver – Country Rose, Buff, and White) (Craft Smart – Blue Tweed)
  • 3.5mm crochet hook
  • Embroidery Thread or fine yarn to embroider the face
  • Stuffing
  • Tapestry needle

Abbreviations:

ch – chain

st – stitch (sts – stitches)

mc – magic circle

sc – single crochet

sc inc – single crochet increase

sc dec – single crochet decrease

invdec – invisible decrease

blo – work in the back loop of the stitches

rnd – round

() – the total number of stitches at the end of each row

Head:

-Work in the color buff-

Rnd 1: 6 sc in mc (6)

Rnd 2: sc inc x6 (12)

Rnd 3: 1 sc, sc inc (18)

Rnd 4: 2 sc, sc inc (24)

Rnd 5: 3 sc, sc inc (30)

Rnd 6: 4 sc, sc inc (36)

Rnd 7: 5 sc, sc inc (42)

Rnd 8-13: sc around (42)

Rnd 14: 5 sc, invdec (36)

-Start Stuffing-

Body:

-Start working in Blue Tweed-

Rnd 1: ch 17, 2 sc in 2nd ch from hook and in the 14 sts, 4 sc in the last ch. Now turn your work so that you’re working on the other side of the chain. Sc 14, 2 sc in the last ch (36)

Rnd 2-7: sc around (36)

Rnd 8: 4 sc, invdec (30)

-Change color to pink-

Rnd 9: 4 sc, in the next 10 sts sc in the blo only, sc in the remaining 16 sts (30)

Rnd 10: sc around (30)

-Start Stuffing-

Rnd 11: 3 sc, invdec (24)

Rnd 12-13: sc around (24)

Rnd 14: 2 sc, invdec (18)

Rnd 15-16: sc around (18)

Rnd 17: 1 sc, invdec (12)

Fasten off with a long tail for sewing.

Overall Top:

-Attach the blue tweed yarn to the unworked front loops of row 9 of the body with the bottom of the body facing you-

Rnd 1: 10 sc, ch 1 (10)

Rnd 2: 1 sc, sc dec, 4 sc, sc dec, 1 sc, ch 1 (8)

Rnd 3: sc across, ch 1 (8)

Rnd 4: 1sc, sc dec, 2 sc, sc dec, 1 sc, ch 1 (6)

Rnd 6: 1 sc, 2 sc dec, 1 sc (4)

Ch 15 and wrap the chain around the back and slip stitch 3 sts over from the color change of row 9. Attach the yarn back to the opposite side of the top of the overalls. Ch 15 and slip stitch 8 sts over from the other ch 15. This should have created an x shape on the back. Weave in all ends.

Arms x2:

-Start working in buff and stuff lightly as you work-

Rnd 1: 4 sc in mc (4)

Rnd 2: sc inc x4 (8)

Rnd 3: sc around (8)

-Chang color to blue tweed-

Rnd 4-15: sc around (8)

Rnd 16: Fold the piece in half and ch 1, sc through two sts at a time (4)

Fasten off with a long tail for sewing.

Legs x2:

-Work in buff and stuff lightly as you work-

Rnd 1: 6 sc in mc (6)

Rnd 2: sc inc x6 (12)

Rnd 3: sc around (12)

-Change color to blue tweed-

Rnd 4-20: sc around (12)

Rnd 21: Fold the piece in half, ch 1 and sc through two sts at a time (6)

Fasten off and leave a long tail for sewing.

Tail:

-Work in white-

Rnd 1: 6 sc in mc (6)

Rnd 2: 1 sc, sc inc (9)

Rnd 3-4: sc around (9)

Fasten off leaving a long tail for sewing and stuff lightly.

Assembly:

Step 1: Sew the ears to the top of the head. I placed them more toward the back of the head than the front.

Step 3: Sew the head to the body, make sure the head and body are lined up.

Step 4: Sew the arms to the body.

Step 5: Sew the legs to the body.

Step 6: sew the tail to the back of the body just under the color change of row 9 of the body.
