Sully The Shark Pattern

Hi, I’m Sully!

Materials:

  • Worsted weight yarn in two colors. The main body color, and contrast color. I used Just Yarn Premier yarn that I got at the dollar store.
  • 3.5mm crochet hook
  • Stuffing
  • Safety eyes
  • embroidery floss in your choice of color
  • Yarn or tapestry needle

Abbreviations:

st (sts) – stitch (stitches)

sl st – slip stitch

ch – chain

sc – single crochet

hdc – half double crochet

dc – double crochet

trc – treble crochet

Rnd – round

() – the total number of stitches at the end of each round

Top Of The Head:

-Work with the main body color-

Rnd 1: 6 sc in mc (6)

Rnd 2: sc inc x6 (12)

Rnd 3: 1 sc, sc inc (18)

Rnd 4: 2 sc, sc inc (24)

Rnd 5: 3 sc, sc inc (30)

Rnd 6: 4 sc, sc inc (36)

Rnd 7: 5 sc, sc inc (42)

Rnd 8: 6 sc, sc inc (48)

Rnd 9: 7 sc, sc inc (54)

Rnd 10-17: sc in every st around (54)

Sl st, ch 1, and fasten off. Weave in the ends. Place the safety eyes between rnds 16 and 17 about 12 sts apart.

Bottom Of The Head:

-Work with the contrast color-

Rnd 1: 6 sc in mc (6)

Rnd 2: sc inc x6 (12)

Rnd 3: 1 sc, sc inc (18)

Rnd 4: 2 sc, sc inc (24)

Rnd 5: 3 sc, sc inc (30)

Rnd 6: 4 sc, sc inc (36)

Rnd 7: 5 sc, sc inc (42)

Rnd 8: 6 sc, sc inc (48)

Rnd 9: 7 sc, sc inc (54)

Rnd 10-13: sc in every st around (54)

Sl st, ch 1, and fasten off. Leave a long tail for sewing.

Side Fins x2:

Ch 6, sc in the second ch from hook, hdc in the next st, dc in the next st, trc in the next 2 sts.

Top Fin x1:

Step 1: Ch 6, sc in the second ch from hook, hdc in the next st, dc in the next st, trc in the next 2 sts.

Step 2: without fastening off the first part, Ch 6, sc in the second ch from hook, hdc in the next st, dc in the next st, trc in the next 2 sts.

Step 3: Fold the piece so that the tips of both fins are face up and held together. Then sc around the border of the fin. Do not sc on the bottom.

Tail Fin x1:

Step 1: Ch 7 and sc in the second ch from hook, 1 hdc, 2 dc, 2 trc.

Step 2: Without fastening of the first part, Ch 7 and sc in the second ch from hook, 1 hdc, 2 dc, 2 trc.

Step 3: With the tips of the fins pointed in the opposite direction than the other, sl st the wide ends of the fins together. Ch 1 and fasten off.

Assembly:

  1. Sew the top and bottom of the head together. Stuff as you sew.

2. Sew the side fins to the side about 7 sts from the eyes on either side.

3. Sew the top fin to the top of the head, place it a little farther back than the middle of the head.

4. Sew the tail fin to the back middle of the head.

5. Embroider the lines of the nose on the front between the eyes. Embroider three gills on either side between the eyes and the side fins.

There you guys have it! I hope you liked this cute and quick pattern of Mr. Sully the shark. I decided to make this pattern based on one of my favorite stress toy’s that is a slow rise squishy shark.
