Simple Crochet Beanies (Preemie To Adult Sizes)

Hey guys, and welcome back to my blog. I’m here today to show you how to make quick, simple beanies. This post includes preemie, newborn/baby, toddler/child, teen, and adult sizes. I hope to post some free hat patterns shortly and want you guys to have this post as a reference for the different beanie sizes. I will be making a following post about adding earflaps and braids to beanies as well, so look out for that. Feel free to use this as a reference when designing your own hats. Now that I got all of that information out of the way, let’s get started!

Material Information:

First, let’s go more into depth about the materials. I used a 5.5 mm crochet hook since I like my beanies loose. If you find your beanie is too big for your liking, go down a hook size or two. I used medium (worsted) weight yarn, to be exact, Red Heart Super Saver’s color Baby Pink. I always like to encourage people to experiment with different types of yarn. So if Red Heart isn’t your favorite, try using different brands. Just remember that using medium-weight yarn will get you closest to the results I had. Using a lighter or heavier weight yarn may affect the size. Also, my patterns require the beanies to be a little shorter than usual. You can adjust the length by adding or taking away rows. A yarn needle will be needed for weaving in the ends.

Abbreviations:

st (sts) – st (stitches)

ch – chain

mc – magic circle (magic ring)

dc – double crochet

dc inc – double crochet increase

() – the total number of stitches at the end of each round

** – repeat what is inside

Rnd – round

Notes:

Before we start working, I have a few pattern notes for you. This project is worked in joined rounds where you will slip stitch at the end of each round. The chain three at the beginning of each round counts as a stitch. I recommend using either a stitch marker or a scrap piece of yarn to mark the beginning or end of each round. Remove the marker after each round. Now, finally, let’s make some beanies!
